The House-Museum of Emilia Pardo Bazán is also the headquarters of the Royal Galician Academy. It is a characteristic late 18th century urban manner house that was once home to the aristocrat, novelist, journalist, and feminist, who fought for women’s rights.  Ms Emilia spent most of her childhood and youth in this house, and continued to use it as a family home after her marriage to José Quiroga y Pérez de Deza.

The building has two façades, the main one facing Rúa Tabernas, and the other at the rear on Rúa do Parrote, which is used as a service building.  The main façade has a ground floor, two upper floors and an attic which was added at a later stage.  On the ground floor, there are two doors, the first of which is lintelled, which led to the entrance hall of the house, and the second arched, which was the entrance for the carriages.

The museum takes you on a tour through the private universe of the author of "Los pazos de Ulloa", recreating the interior spaces of the house with original furniture of the time.  The entrance hall, the living room where literary meetings and parties were held, and the work office are some of the rooms in the permanent exhibition.
